The story behind the painting
After returning from a holiday, I felt the need to paint something fresh, full of colour and radiance. Only while painting did I realise how much the theme of family was coming through – its dynamics, human closeness and everything that happens within it.
The result is an abstract work without figurative elements, which for me is a symbolic reflection on what a family can be: the semicircles represent the members of the family. They stand together and have each other’s backs, yet at the same time they form an open circle. There is free space in it for movement, personal expression and mutual respect.
The dots, circles and stripes carry a rich palette of emotions – joy, love and a sense of safety, but also moments of uncertainty or confusion. Everything that naturally belongs to family life. Every family brings completely different stories and feelings.
What does this painting awaken in you? What emotions connected with family do you see in it?
